GUWAHATI, Aug 13: Bihpuria MLA Bhupen Kumar Bora on Thursday said that if the Sri Sri Madhavdev Kalakshetra which is under construction in rayanpur is not completed at the earliest, he will resign as the MLA of the Bihpuria LAC.

Speaking in the Assembly, Bora said, “In 2007, Chief Minster Tarun Gogoi laid the foundation stone of the Sri Sri Madhavdev Kalakshetra in rayanpur, the birthplace of the saint. The chief minister also announced Rs 5 crore for the project. It has been more than 7 years, but the project has not yet been completed. If this continues, I would like to offer to resign from my seat.”

He further said, “Former cultural affairs minister Prati Phukan announced Rs 2 crore for the project, but that amount has not yet been released. I want to know, what where did they spent that amount.” He added that even the then commissioner of cultural affairs department expressed his happiness to him outside the assembly as he will be able to sanction the amount for the noble cause in the me of the Mahapurush. Alleging that a former minister from Lakhimpur district don’t want the Sri Sri Madhavdev Kalakshetra to come up in rayanpur, the MLA said, “It is now a matter of public sentiment. People are now scolding me. If the government fails to make any progress, I’ll sit on protest in front of the Assembly.” Saying so, the ruling party MLA broke down inside the house.
