Increasing ATM theft cases worry House

GUWAHATI, August 12: The Assam Legislative Assembly (ALA) was worried over the frequent ATM thefts and lootings in the State, a crime that was nil in the State till 2009. AGP MLA Phani Bhushan Choudhury raised the issue at a short notice question in the Assembly today. On behalf of Home Minister Sarbanda Sonowal, Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said: “As many as 116 ATM theft/looting cases were registered in the State from 2010-April 2016. Two such cases were registered in 2010, one case in 2011, one case in 2012, three cases in 2013, 38 cases in 2014, 52 cases in 2015 and 18 cases till April in 2016.”
