GUWAHATI, Sept 7: Ten indigenous Muslim organizations led by the Gariya Development Council Demand Committee staged a sit-in protest demonstration near Dighalipukhuri in the city on Monday. The organizations also sent a 6-point memorandum to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (Metro) urging him to immediately release Rs 50 crore for the development of the minorities.
The organizations also slammed Food and Supplies Minister zrul Islam for his failure in curbing the prices of essential commodities.
The organizations also urged the president of Assam Pradesh Congress Committee and Bharatiya Jata Party to reserve 15 seats for the indigenous Muslims in the upcoming Assam Assembly elections.
