By our Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, Feb 19: A group of indigenous Muslims of Assam told BJP’s Chief Ministerial candidate Sarbanda Sonowal that they had been the victims of deception for the past 55 years under the Congress government at Dispur. The indigenous Muslims, under the aegis of State Minority Morcha , met Sonowal at a city hotel last night and vent their woes against the Congress rule in the State. They said that they were even deprived of the benefits of the Wakf Board and various government schemes meant for minority people of the State. The 30 leaders present at the meeting included State Wakf Board Chairman Nekibur Zaman, Cotton College Professor Poinur Uddin Ahmed, Gauhati University Professor Dr. Phoridur Rahman and others. While Sonowal assured the indigenous Muslims of taking steps to solve their problems through the mobilization of opinion, State Minority Morcha president Mominul Aowal appealed to the indigenous Muslims of the State to cast their votes based on conscience, and not on emotions.
