Indigenous people to make Imphal Declaration

GUWAHATI, Dec 5: The Circa Coalition for Indigenous Rights Campaign (Manipur), Assam Sanmilita Mahasabha (ASM) and the Assam Meitei Apunba Lup (AMAL) are going to hold the first North East Indigenous People’s Parliament from December 8 to 10 at Imphal with a vision to solve all issues relating to foreigners and survival threats to the local people from outsiders.

In a statement issued to the press by First North East Indigenous People’s Parliament, its convener Matiur Rahman said that two members representing each ethnic group would attend the parliament. The organizers, according to the press statement, hope that representatives from at least 300 ethnic groups would take part in the Parliament. The statement requests representatives of all ethnic groups in their traditiol attire to arrive in the venue with their respective flags before 8 am on December 8. On December 10, through observing the World Human Rights Day, Imphal Declaration will be made.
