It was pleasure presenting Sankaradeva Award to towering persolities: Gogoi

GUWAHATI, Feb 4: Expressing pleasure on the presentation ceremony of Sankardeva Award, the highest civilian award of the State, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Thursday said that it was an honour to have presented the award to noted theatre historian ML Varadpandy and veteran jourlist Kak Sen Deka who are very prominent and distinguished in their respective fields.  In a statement here on Thursday Gogoi said that Sankardeva was a great reformer and conferring the award instituted in his me to the towering persolities like ML Varadpandy and Kak Sen Deka was matter of great pleasure on the part of the Government. Gogoi further said, “Sankaradeva and his philosophy aimed at bringing in social, economic and religious reform through art, culture and drama.”
