GUWAHATI, August 30: Newly-joined BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that ‘for him it’s a matter of second to topple the Tarun Gogoi-led Congress Government in Assam’.

Addressing the State Bharatiya Jata Juva Morcha (BJYM) conference at Geetagar High School field in the city today, Sarma said: “The BJP is never commul. The party doesn’t see people who love the land they have been living as commul.”

Sarma said: “The BJP does politics for the future of the younger generation, their security. The Congress, on the other hand, does politics for their individual security and future. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi is doing politics to secure the future of his son, not to secure the future of the youths of the State. This is one of the basic differences between the BJP and the Congress.”

On the Chief Minister’s recent announcement that he would implement schemes worth Rs 100 crore in the me of Rajiv Gandhi in the State, Sarma said: “I would like to request the Chief Minister to make the Rajiv Gandhi Computer Project a successful one before ming new schemes in the me of the former Prime Minister of India. The aim of the BJP is to help the youth of the State establish with jobs, to secure their future.”

On 2016 Assembly elections in the State, Sarma said: “The next Assembly election is not a joke. The future of Assam depends on the election. The people of Assam will have to decide if they have to vote to secure the future of a particular person’s son or to secure the sons of all.”

Speaking on the occasion, BJP’s Assam in-charge Mahendra Singh said: “The way a mistake on the part of former Prime Minister Jawharlal Nehru let Pakistan to occupy a portion of Kashmir, the mistake on the part of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi let the neighbouring States to occupy vast areas of Assam. The BJP wants to make Assam a number one State in the country. The Prime Minister thinks for all and sundry, and he makes plans for people of all layers.”

Guwahati MP Bijoya Chakraborty and BJYM Assam president Diplu Ranjan Sarma also spoke on the occasion.
