It’s NH-37 cleansing after demolition

GUWAHATI, March 2: With those wielding hammers tore illegal structures down masons are in for giving the city stretch of NH-37 an alluring look.  

Over 1,200 illegally erected structures have been dismantled in the demolition drive along NH-37 from Lokapriya Gopith Bordoloi Intertiol (LGBI) Airport to Khapara. The demolition drive that began on February 25 concluded on March 1. From today the work for cleaning the debris and cals has been started by officials of the Kamrup(M) district administration and the NHAI. Three units have been formed for the purpose. While one of the units is to clean the stretch from Khapara to Bashistha Chariali, the second unit is to clear from Bashistha Chariali to Gorchuk and the third one is to clean the stretch from Gorchuk to Jalukbari. Many ADCs and revenue circle officers have been supervising the cleaning drive. DC A Angamuthu himself took stock of the drive today, and asked the officials to complete the work within ten days. A drive to beautify the stretch of the tiol highway will start once the cleanliness drive is over.

Meanwhile, the district administration started to take away vehicles illegally parked on the service routes of NH-37 and other places. As many as nine vehicles were seized and removed with cranes today. The last date for the removal of the illegally parked vehicles expired on March 1.
