Jail inmate gives police the slip

GUWAHATI, January 16: A jail inmate escaped from police custody in the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) when he was being taken to a doctor in the hospital today.

According to sources, Faizul Islam, a man arrested by the gaon Police in connection with a kidpping case, was admitted to gaon Civil Hospital that referred him to the GMCH for further examitions. Faizul gave the two police personnel on duty the slip when he was taken to a doctor today. Soon a search operation began but the inmate could not be traced. This incident has proved the negligence of duty of police personnel in the state yet again. This is not the only incident of jail inmates fleeing from police custody in the GMCH.
