Jamiat moves President

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, April 20: The district committees of the Assam State Jamiat Ulama (ASJU) headed by Dhubri MP Badruddin Ajmal submitted a memorandum to the President of India through the respective deputy commissioners and sub-divisional officers across Assam on Friday condemning the growing incidents of rapes and incidents of violence against women. The State Jamiat has urged the President to ensure stringent punishment to the rapists. Terming that the rapists have no religion, the Jamiat pleaded the constitutional head of India to confer severe penalty upon such inhuman criminals. Observing such offense as an unforgivable act, the Jamiat pleaded to deal with the offenders with iron hands. Meanwhile, they also appealed to all concerned not to do politics on the growing and but hateful phenomenon.
