GUWAHATI, Jan 1: With a few thousand kites of different shapes, sizes and shades Jeevan Kite River festival comes back to the people with adventures and fun-filled activities from January 4 and conclude on January 8 at the riverside of Bharalu.
This time, along with various adventure sports, visitors will have joyrides on the river and view traditiol Assamese puppet theatres. Various traditiol and modern cultural performances by renowned artistes and bands will also be performed live for entertainment. 
Illumition and evening camp fires will create a magical winter backdrop on the riverside. People will be able to float earthen lamps and also fly sky lanterns as a mark of tribute to the river. 
Various competitions like photography, videography on Brahmaputra river banks, dance based on Brahmaputra and its tributaries, instrumental music, folk songs, acting, music competitions are also being organized for the festival. Art and quiz competitions on the Brahmaputra will also be conducted in four zones – Barpeta, Chairaideo, gaon and Guwahati.  Along with competitions and amusements there will also be roundtable discussions on potential of riverbanks. The main initiative is to transform garbage dumping grounds into aesthetic river banks and for enjoying the beauty of the ture in the city.
