Job mela held in city

GUWAHATI, June 22: Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM) organized a ‘Job Mela and Stakeholders’ Meet’ from June 21 to 22 in the city.
Panchayat & Rural Development Department (P&RD) Minister ba Kumar Doley graced the occasion as the chief guest, along with Additiol Chief Secretary MGVK  Bhanu , P&RD Commissioner  and Secretary JB Ekka , SIPRD Director AMM Zakir and ASRLM SMD ndita Hazarika, a press release said.
42 employers and approximately 2,700 candidates took part in the DDU-GKY JOB MELA. Some of the employers are Eureka Forbes Pvt. Ltd., Kent RO, Café Coffee Day, Apollo Pharmacy, Idea Cellular, Vodafone, Big Bazaar and Vivo. Till the filing of this report, 1,086 candidates were offered jobs by different organizations. The second day of the Job Mela is still continuing.
Addressing the JOB MELA, Doley urged all stakeholders to work towards strengthening the SHGs and providing skill training with placement to rural youths of Assam.  He also added that support of the stakeholders of ASRLMS which comprised of   line departments, banks, fincial Institutions, project implementation agencies  etc.,  have immensely contributed towards the uplift of rural poor.   ASRLM has so far formed 89,000 SHGs all over Assam and more than 60,000 have been provided assistance through Revolving Fund. To help them in enhancing their livelihood initiatives ASRLM have so far linked 39,636 SHGs with loans from banks amounting to Rs.36918.06 lakh.
In the stakeholders meet, three Self-Help Groups mely Bipadshini SHG of Tinsukia, Joyjyoti SHG of Lakhimpur and Aparajita SHG of gaon were awarded as best performing SHG. The meet was also addressed by Additiol Chief Secretary MGVK Bhanu and Commissioner Secretary JB Ekka.
