Joint panel on citizenship to hear in Assam on Nov 2 & 3

GUWAHATI, Oct 26: The Joint Committee on Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 will be in Assam on a two-day visit on November 2 and 3, 2016. The visit is in response to Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal’s request to the Chairman of the Committee Satyapal Singh during his last visit to New Delhi.

The Joint Committee will take hearing on the views of various organizations and stakeholders regarding the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016 on November 2 from 2 pm to 6 pm and on November 3 from 9 am to 12 noon at Assam Administrative Staff College, Khapara. Interested organizations/ stakeholders may place their views before the committee on the respective time and dates. Three nodal officers of the Government have been desigted for the coordition with the interested parties.
