The other recipient of the award is veteran jourlist Tilak Hazarika, who could not turn up due to ill health. His wife Asuiya Hazarika received the award on his behalf.

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, noted poet Harekrish Deka said on the recent controversy over Padma Shri awards: “There shouldn’t be any controversy over Padma Shri Awards as that hurts both the recipients and those who missed it.”
