Jyotirupa Drama festival from Feb 24

GUWAHATI, Feb 22: Jyotirupa, a socio-cultural organization, is going to organize the eighth Singhapurux Radhagobinda Baruah Invitatiol Drama Festival at Rabindra Bhawan of the city from February 24 to 28, which will be participated by various amateur drama groups from outside the state. Speaking to the press at Guwahati Press Club today, general secretary of the organization, ren Hazarika said: “The festival will be iugurated by veteran artiste Dilip Kumar Hazarika on February 24. The festival will include various amateur dramas like two one-act dramas and four complete dramas, among which two groups are invited from Mumbai and Delhi. However, due to last-minute change in the schedule of the Department of Cultural Affairs of the State Government, we not certain in staging the dramas in Rabindra Bhawan. Though we have booked the hall before four months, recently the authority informed us that the Cultural Affairs Department is going to organize some award-giving  ceremonies in Rabindra Bhawan during the festival period, creating problems for us.” Vice president of the organization, Dilip Baruah, said: “On the first day, we will show the best two one-act dramas of last year’s drama competition – ‘Premor Xitu Pare’ and ‘Atmar Abiskar’ – and on second day, we will stage the Assamese drama ‘Khamos’ by Gati Asom. The drama groups coming from Mumbai, Indian People’s Theatre, will stage a drama ‘Simla Coffee House’ directed by Rakesh Bedi and the group coming from Delhi, Theatrewala, will stage a drama ‘Leela ndlal Ki’ directed by Ramji Bali.”
