Kalita, not Jury, is a factor for me: Hemanta Talukdar

GUWAHATI, March 28: Independent candidate from West Guwahati LAC Hemanta Talukdar has said ‘Congress candidate Juri Sarma Bordoloi isn’t a factor for him, but AGP candidate RN Kalita certainly is’.

Talking to newsmen at his Durga Sarover residence in the city today, Talukdar squarely blamed it on Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, and said: “The Chief Minister, CP Joshi and Kamal th hatched a conspiracy to deny me party ticket. Joshi received a huge amount of money from Juri Sarma Bordoloi for party ticket from West Guwahati LAC. While sending the list of probable party candidates to the high command for fil selection, Bhubaneswar Kalita was on record saying that only my me should be sent to the high command from West Guwahati LAC. However, the Chief Minister had something different in his mind. Gogoi and Joshi are Rahul Gandhi’s stooges.”

“The Chief Minister tried to make me withdraw my nomitions by putting pressure through Bhubaneswar Kalita and Kirip Chaliha, but failed,” Talukdar said.

On his performance as an MLA, Talukdar said: “I had been a hard worker of the Congress since the days of Hiteswar Saikia. However, I failed to get the support of Chief Minister Tarun because of my love for my friend Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is an industrious leader. Himanta did help me a lot in making development works a reality in my LAC. He did sanction a 30-bed hospital at Matekhar in my LAC. He also sanctioned a model hospital in my LAC at Moi Khulung. The construction of the hospital is underway. All rural roads in my LAC are blacktopped. I did all these with the MLALAD funds and money from my persol business.”
