Kamakshya cleanliness committee reconstituted

GUWAHATI, Oct 22: The Government of Assam has reconstituted the monitoring and review committee for monitoring of the works of ‘Swachh Kamakhya Devi Temple Programme’ under the ‘Swachh Tourist Destition’ programme taken up for ten iconic places.

The 15-member committee will be headed by the Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam as chairman.  Secretary, PHED & Mission Director, SBM will be the member secretary of the committee. Other members include Additiol Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, Tourism Department; Additiol  Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, Guwahati Development Department; Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Assam, PWD (Roads) Department; Dr. DN Buragohain, Professor, IIT, Guwahati; president/secretary, Maa Kamakhya Devi Temple Magement Committee; Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (M); Commissioner, GMC; Maging Director, APDCL; Maging Director, ATDC; Maging Director, NFR, Maligaon; Maging Director, IOC Ltd; CEO, GMDA and Mr Shantanu Bhattacharya, PWD (Mechanical).

The roles and responsibilities of the committee will be to coordite with all concerned departments for developing Kamakhya Devi Temple as “Swachh Tourist Destition”, to streamline the effort and monitor and review the progress on regular basis, and to ensure that the action plan for the temple is carried out as per the timelines and that all the stakeholder departments carry out the responsibilities assigned to them as per the Action Plan.

The Member Secretary is to keep close contact with all the members and call meetings of the committee as per the time given by the Chairman, on regular basis.
