Kamrup DEO seeks cooperation from parties, asks them not to violate poll code

GUWAHATI, March 5: Kamrup Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer (DEO) Vinod Seshan has appealed to all political parties in the district not to violate the Model Code of Conduct during the election process. He has also sought cooperation from the political parties for free, fair, and peaceful conduct of election.

Speaking at a meeting with the representatives of various political parties at his conference hall at Amingaon in Kamrup yesterday, Seshan elaborately discussed the Dos and Don’ts for the guidance of the political parties to be observed from the announcement of election and until completion of election process. He also informed the representatives of political parties of the election schedule in the LACs of Boko, Hajo, Palasbari and Chaygaon. The DEO further clarified that no bike rally will be allowed in all these four LACs except on special occasion of star campaigning. The DEO also requested political parties to take the advantage of  online system ‘E-Subidha”  for securing  all kinds of permission and ‘E-Samadhan” for placing any kinds of election related grievances. The meeting was attended by the representatives of INC, AGP, BJP and AIUDF apart from senior officials of Kamrup district.

Randomization of EVM done in Kamrup

Meanwhile, the first randomization of the EVMs for pairing of control unit and ballot unit and for filization of EVMs for respective constituencies was done  yesterday evening at the conference hall of Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup, Amingaon for the LACs of Boko, Chaygaon, Palasbar and Hajo. During the process, representatives of INC, AGP, BJP and AIUDF were present, besides senior officials of Kamrup district administration.
