Kamrup observes I-Day

MIRZA, August 16: Along with rest of the country, Kamrup district also observed the 69th Independence Day yesterday at Amingaon. DC Binod Kumar Seshan hoisted the tiol Flag and gave a brief account on the development works in the district. The Kamrup SP was also present at the function that was attended, among others, by students and general public.

The Day was also observed at Palasbari Revenue Circle Office where Revenue Circle Officer Pankaj Chakravarty unfurled the Tricolour. There was an art competition among students, besides cultural programmes. Palasbari Sanskriti Bhavan also observed the day when the family members of a few local freedom fighters were felicitated. There was a carom tourney. South Kamrup Sports Association also observed the day. The flag was, however, unfurled on the wrong side due to a fault while tying it up.
