Kathak contest

GUWAHATI, April 22: ‘Dhorahar’, a Kathak competition, was held at Rabindra Bhawan today. It was organized by Nritayangan with support from Sanskritik Sanchalokalaya. Kathak Gurus like Kandarpa Sharma, Bipul Das, Prati Goswami, Renu Prasad, Aligunjan Kalita Mudiar, Hemanta Kalita and their disciples took part at cultural event, besides students of Noida and Delhi centres of Nrityangan. “Winners of Dhorahar will take part in Projonmo to be held later this year. The motto behind Dhorohar is to portray the ideals of teacher-student relationship (Guru-Shisya Parampara) on stage. Teacher plays an important role in making students master of art. So the gurus will also dance along with students on stage,” Nrityangan founder Hemanta Kalita said. Assam Cultural Affairs Director Debaprasad Misra, Barpeta DC Thaneshwar Malakar, actor Nipon Goswami and others were also present on the occasion.
