Keep identity of Cotton College intact: CCUS

By our Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, Dec 2: The Cotton College Union Society (CCUS) has said that the identity of Cotton College and the dignity and glamour associated to it should be kept intact by making it an autonomous college under Cotton College State University (CCSU). Talking to newsmen in the city today, CCUS general secretary Jintu Thakuria said: “Cotton College has a distinct tradition, dignity and glamour of its own. However, in the process to upgrade the college as a university it may loss its age-old glamour and dignity. Such a move may also affect quality of education in HS and degree courses. The responsibility of developing Cotton Colleges lies with all stakeholders of the College. However, we need to see that no development move that may affect the age-old image and dignity of the college should be taken. Since AC has given Cotton College A++ grade for securing 3.76 CGPA, such a hard-earned achievement should be allowed to be lost by merging the College with the University. Under no circumstances the independent identity of the college should be lost.”
