GUWAHATI, June 4: Former All Assam Tribal Sangha (AATS) secretary general Aditya Khakhlary, who had joined the Congress on January 17 this year as one of the general secretaries of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), is back to the AATS as its secretary general. Khakhlary has resigned both as an APCC general secretary and a primary member of the party.

Talking to newsmen in the city today, Khakhlary said: “Since August 2012 not a single department of the Assam Government follows the Assam SC and ST (Reservation of Vacancies in Services and Posts) (Amendment) Act, 2012. He alleged that an Additiol Secretary in the Personnel Department has even been engaged in a campaign against the Act by wrongly explaining the verdict of the court. He demanded of Dispur to act against officers who are against SCs and STs.

Khakhary said that a delegation comprising representatives from the AATS, All Assam Tribal Youth League and the Sadou Asom Jajati Karmachari Santha met State Plain Tribe and Other Backward Community Welfare Minister Pramila Rani Brahma at her office chamber at 6 pm yesterday and submitted a memorandum.
