KSA demands CM's intervention

GUWAHATI, June 17: The Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) has alleged that the verification on the implementation of various schemes by the Amri Karbi Development Council is just as eyewash. In a statement issued to the press today, KSA president Bishnu Teron said: “On January 30 this year, the Director of WPT & BC Director asked his joint director GC Mill to verify and inspect supply of items distributed to the beneficiaries by the eight development councils, including the AKDC in the State. He also requested the Joint Director to collect lists of beneficiaries, along with their address, photograph, mobile numbers etc., up to February 20, 2016. However, even after four months of the verification no action has been taken against the council. Our demand was an inquiry into the anomalies of over Rs 20 crore in fiscal 2013-14 and 2014-15 by the council. We did demand removal of AKDC chairman Indreswar Teron, but to no avail. The verification order was a ploy to ensure the release of funds for fiscal 2015-16. We want intervention of the Chief Minister on this issue.”
