KSUPA meet to discuss Assam issues

GUWAHATI, March 23: The Krishak-Sramik Unyan Parishad, Assam (KSUPA) is going to brainstorm on a slew of issues, including Citizenship Act (Amendment) Bill, declaration of floods and erosion as a tiol problem, ecting a law on Sanchi leaves, corruption in the Agriculture Department, issuance of land pattas etc., at a convention to be held in the city on April 2. In a statement issued to the press today, KSUPA president Pradip Kalita said: “The BJP government in the State has also adopted the policies of the previous Congress government. The government is yet to do anything tangible for providing right prices to farmers of Sanchi plant in the State. The move to pass the citizenship amendment Bill will only burden Assam with lakhs of Bangladeshis. Is the government out to erase the me ‘Asom’ with ‘Assam’?” Kalita requested farmers and labourers to remain present at the convention on April 2.
