GUWAHATI, Oct 16: Krishak-Sramik Unyan Parishad (KSUPA) president Pradip Kalita has been suspended by the parishad’s central committee amidst the allegation of rampant corruption by him.

“Pradip Kalita is engrossed in blackmailing officials and procuring money from various departments through the right to information (RTI). When asked about the information obtained by him through RTI, Kalita, however, said that all those information have nothing to do with the committee as they are procured in his individual capacity.

“On behalf of the KSUPA, Kalita levelled charges against various departments like Agriculture, Forest, Irrigation, Water Resource etc., without the consent of other members of the committee or without any discussions with them. He withholds such charges by taking bribes,” KSUPA working president Sukumar Das said while talking to newsmen at Guwahati Press Club here today.

“Kalita also shifted the office of KSUPA from Dispur to a rented house of Lakhimigar in the city without other members’ consent. The central committee has taken the decision to suspend Kalita and joint secretary Dhiren Baishya, and lodged an FIR against them,” Das added.

KSUPA vice president Mukul Bora, Boleshwar Rongpi, Hitesh Choudhuri and Utpal Bora were also present at the press briefing.
