Labour officials to implement jourlists, newspaper employees’ service condition

GUWAHATI, July 2: In exercise of the power conferred by the provision of Section 17-B (1) of the Working Jourlists and other Newspaper Employees (Conditions of Service) and Misc. Provisions Act, 1955, the Governor of Assam has appointed officers as inspectors under the Act to exercise the power to implement the provisions of the said Act and to implement the recommendations in force time to time within their jurisdictions shown against them. According to a press release, the Additiol Labour Commissioners, Assam, headquarters, Guwahati and All Deputy Labour Commissioners, headquarters, Guwahati with jurisdiction in the whole of Assam, will exercise the power to implement the provisions of the said Act in the whole State. All Asst. Labour Commissioners, All Labour Officers and All Labour Inspectors will exercise the power to implement the provisions of the Act within their own jurisdiction. The inspectors so appointed shall be deemed to be a public servant within the meaning of the Indian Pel Code (45 of 1860), the release added.
