LDP hits out at BJP

GUWAHATI, May 2: Leaders of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) have taken a dig at the BJP, terming the tiol party as – ‘bharatia (running on rent) jata party’ instead of ‘Bharatiya Jata Party’. LDP leaders addressed the press at Guwahati Press Club today on the occasion of completion of its two years.
LDP chairman Pradyut Bora and president Gu Gogoi said: “We’re not going to put any hurdles in translating the RSS’ Hindutva dream in Assam, provided it doesn’t distort the Assam Accord. It shouldn’t violate any of the laws of the land. We term the party ‘bharatia’ (running on rent) since it had to hire priests from elsewhere in the country during the mami Brahmaputra Festival even though Assam has no dearth of priests. The policies adopted by the BJP will make the people of the State chanting ‘bolbom’ instead of ‘joi aai Asom’.  Syndicateraj was prevalent during the Congress regime, and it is still a reality under the BJP in the State. When the BJP came to power, it dismantled all syndicates so as to create a gimmick. However, syndicates have reappeared now.”
