GUWAHATI, March 9: Keeping in tune with the Intertiol Women’s Day, the Centre for Environment, Social and Policy Research (CESPR), which is a Guwahati based Charitable Trust on Wednesday held a legal awareness camp for women at its office at Rukmini gar in the city, a press release said. The camp was attended by several women, who sought legal advice on various issues during the camp. The programme was addressed by Sabita Devi, Maging Trustee of CESPR, who is also an advocate, and spoke on various issues, and also answered queries raised by the women who attended the camp. The event was also addressed by several social activists. “There were a lot of queries on issues related to domestic violence, and harassment due to dowry demands,” said Devi. On being asked about the next step by the organization, Devi said that CESPR is planning a weeklong camp at its office soon, and will also be organizing such legal awareness camps in several districts in the state. “I have benefitted a lot by attending this legal camp today, and if I think necessary, I might also attend more such legal camps which this organization is planning to organize in the near future,” said Rupali Das, a women who attended the camp.
