By our Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, July 19: Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has visited the Samadhi of Bhupen Hazarika at Jalukbari and ordered the men at work there to see that the Samadhi depicts the very essence of the songs of the maestro.
The Chief Minister, accompanied by Cultural Affairs Minister Bismita Gogoi, took stock of the progress of work at the Samadhi today. Gogoi also asked the PWD (Building) to complete the work before November 5 when the date of demise of the singer falls.
Planting a sapling on the premises of the Samadhi, Gogoi told the PWD(Building): "We don't want an ordiry work. This should be a Samadhi with a difference. The maestro was famous the world over. His glory knows no bounds. A visitor should be made to feel that glory as and when he/she steps into the Samadhi. One way to make this happen is depicting the very essence of the songs of the maestro in the entire ambience of the Samadhi."
Meanwhile, talking to newsmen later, Bismita Gogoi said: "The project will be completed on time. We're trying our best to make the Samadhi as glorious as the maestro was. Since November 5 is his date of demise, the work has to be completed before that."
