List of 391 ex-servicemen cancelled, upper age limit extended

GUWAHATI, August 29: The Government’s decision to recruit eligible ex-servicemen under the Government of India’s PIF scheme (additiol) to fill-up 391 posts in May 2015, were cancelled after careful scrutiny of the fil select list submitted by the Additiol Director General of Police ( Border) to the Government, after certain anomalies were found, a press release said.     The Gauhati High Court has also requested the Government to consider for raising the upper age limit for requirement of the ex-servicemen from 48 years to 50 years to bring the matter on a par with the provision made under the Assam Police Act, 2007 in which the upper age limit has been made to be applicable for recruitment of the SPOs in Assam.

Therefore, the Government has decided, after consideration of all relevant facts and issues, to raise the upper age limit from the existing 48 years to 50 years for recruitment of the ex-servicemen under the PIF scheme, the release added.

Henceforth, the ex-servicemen shall be eligible for recruitment under the PIF scheme provided they have not crossed the upper age limit and subject to qualification with regard to other eligibility criteria including medical fitness to carry out duties and responsibilities as required under the PIF scheme, the release added.
