Madrassa merged with secondary education

GUWAHATI, July 3: The Assam Government has merged the Directorate of Madrassa Education with the Directorate of Secondary Education. To this effect the Governor issued a notification from Administrative Reforms and Training Department, Assam on July 1, 2017. However, the there has been no change in the nomenclature of the existing Directorate of Secondary Education and its attached offices, if any. With this notification, all the officers and staff of the Directorate of Madrassa Education shall automatically be under the administrative control of the Directorate of Secondary Education. The Governor allocated subjects dealt with by the Directorate of Madrassa Education in favour of the Directorate of Secondary Education with immediate effect. State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had said earlier that the Directorate of Madrassa Education would be merged with the Directorate of Secondary Education.
