Mahabahu Utsav from today

Guwahati, March 16: To preserve and develop the heritage and culture of Assam, ‘Mahabahu Utsav’ is going to be held from March 17 to March 19 at Soram Higher Secondary School playground in Guwahati. The programme is being organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam.

The programme would be iugurated by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on March 17 with focus on the traditions of the state, including handloom, culture, textile, dance, songs and sculpture. The chief attractions of the utsav are the exhibitions of traditiol handloom and textile products by the Directorate of Hadloom and Textile, Assam, traditiol cuisine of various tribes of the state, marketing of handloom products, sand sculpture, child sports, sculpture and portrait exhibition, display and sale crackers from Barpeta, shows of Assamese award-winning films, workshop on traditiol songs, traditiol cultural procession and various cultural programmes. The cultural programmes of the Utsav would be performed by various singers of Assam, including Zubeen Garg, Kalpa Patowary, Dipen Baruah, Nilima Khatun and others.
