Mahalaya sets puja motif

GUWAHATI, Sept 19: Mahalaya mantras spelled early in Tuesday morning have set the motif for the Durga Puja slated from September 26 in Guwahati as is the case elsewhere. The city has worn an atmosphere of puja.

In shopping malls and roads in Fancy Bazar in the city people are seen showing their elbow power to make their ways ahead. Sweet shops are also points where people are seen to crowd. ‘Jelebi’ is seen everywhere, be them in roadsides or near puja pandals. The Goddess is set to arrive onboard a boat and go back riding a horse. This makes a section of devotees go for the whole lot of permutation and combition as to how much rains will be there, leading to floods. Some are even worried if the State is on the verge of being ravaged by yet another wave of floods.
