Make people aware of fincial magement: Sonowal to CAs

GUWAHATI, Nov 25: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal called upon the chartered accountants to play a greater role in the changing economic scerio of the country in educating the common public on a prudent fincial magement, especially in the wake of demonetization process announced by the Centre.

Speaking at a tiol conference of the chartered accountants at Pragjyoti ITA Centre, Machkhowa on Friday, Sonowal said: “Demonetization process is indeed an operation towards making a corruption-free India by cracking down on corruption and hoarding of black money”. In the post-demonetization period the chartered accountants of India should take up the cajole in generating awareness among the public for a prudent fincial magement which can discourage hoarding of currency notes vis-a-vis other related evils, thereby contributing to a corruption-free country.

Sonowal also called upon the chartered accountants’ fraternity to play a role in the fincial magement of cooperative societies and panchayati raj institutions as these institutions are very important in sensitizing inclusive growth.

Welcoming all delegates of the conference ‘Mantra-towards excellence’ to Assam which is a state of undiluted beauty, Sonowal requested them to visit the world famous Kaziranga tiol Park, Mas tiol Park, Pabitora Wildlife Sanctuary and experience the development of Assam in sync with ture. Earlier, president, Institute of Chartered Accountants of India M Devaraja Reddy, addressed the gathering. He termed November 8, 2016 when demonetization was announced as the Economic Freedom Day. He thanked the PM and Fince Minister for taking the step for eradicating circulation of black money mainly amongst smugglers and antisocial elements. He also thanked Assam Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal for being dymic and being the first to adopt GST. Besides, he also acknowledged the efforts of Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu for converting single entry system into double entry system for improved connectivity. Reddy called also upon the CAs to concentrate on the pious and honourable profession with full ethics and commitment towards the country as partners in tiol building. Reddy said that the ICAI is working at the highest ethical levels and it will take serious action against the few professiols who are out to convert their black money into white ones. He further said that the CAs are working in the spirit for furthering the noble objectives of the Government of India to elimite a parallel economy.
