Make stand on post provincialization Act clear: ASKAM

GUWAHATI, Oct 2: Hundreds of members of the Asom Sikshak Karmachari Aikya Mancha (ASKAM) staged a sit-in strike at Dighalipukhuripar in Guwahati today in support of their demand for Dispur to make its stand clear in the aftermath of the Gauhati High Court declaring the Assam Venture Educatiol Institution (Post Provincialization) Act, 2011 as anti-Constitutiol.

The ASKAM demands that the State Government should bring amendment to the Act without the risking the jobs of teachers and other employees whose posts have been provincialized. It further demands of Dispur to provincialize the posts of the remaining 32,000 teachers in the second phase of the post provincialization process without any review and post provincialization of 5,000 other teachers after bringing necessary amendment to the Act. The ASKAM has threatened that it will resort to a vigorous agitation if the government does not take steps to ensure that the jobs of the teachers and other employees are secured.
