mami Brahmaputra: Governor reviews preparations

GUWAHATI, March 24: Assam Governor Banwarilal Purohit today took stock of  the last-minute preparations for the successful celebrations of the first-ever mami Brahmaputra Festival being organized across 21 districts from Sadiya to Dhubri by the State Government.
Commissioner and Secretary to Transport Department Asutosh Agnihotri and ASTC Maging Director And Prakash Tiwari today paid a visit to Raj Bhavan and apprised the Governor of the steps the State Government has taken to make mami Brahmaputra a unique event. The Governor asked them to ensure fool-proof preparations so that all aspects of festival right from cultural porgrammes, indigenous sports meets, exhibitions of local and traditiol handicrafts and handlooms, tea festival to business meets are addressed properly. They presented a badge bearing logo of mami Brahmaputra to Purohit. The Governor also enquired of the preparations put in place for the long list of VVIPs who will be visiting the State for the ensuing mami Brahmaputra Festival. Since the life and culture of Assam are endlessly influenced by the countless splashes of the Brahmaputra, the only male river of the country, State Government should be prepared to make mami Brahmaputra one of the most sought after tourist events of the tion, the Governor added.
