Man falls from train, dies

GUWAHATI, Jan 17: A man travelling by Chilarai Passenger was killed when he fell from the train while chasing a miscreant who had stched his mobile phone and purse between Gate No 2 and 3 at Lakhtokia in the city this morning. The man has been identified as Mril Kanti Das (32) of Jatia, Guwahati.  The body was handed over to his family members after post-mortem. A case (5/17) has been filed in this connection. The slum area between Gate No 2 and 4 in the Fancy Bazar area in the city is infamous for such crimes. The area, according to the local populace, is a breding ground for miscreants as illegal liquor shops have mushroomed there.
