According to eyewitnesses, Lakhbinder went to the Gurudwara for prayer. However, some sort of prayer was going on at that time at the Gurudwara and that led Harvinder to ask Lakhbinder to wait for a while. However, an enraged Lakhbinder went back to his house, came out with his pistol and shot at Harvinder in the Gurudwara.

Lakhbinder told the police that Harvinder had passed an immodest gesture to his wife, and that led him to kill Harvinder.

The police suspect that since both Harvinder and Lakhbinder were involved in transportation business, they might have professiol rivalry between them.

However, the pistol used by Lakhbinder to kill Harvinder is still to be recovered till the time of filing of this report. The shooter threw the pistol away after committing the crime. Search is on to recover the pistol. It is yet to be ascertained if the pistol used in the killing is a licensed one or not.
