Martyr Sudesh recalled

GUWAHATI, March 17: Language martyr Sudesh Sinha was commemorated by Guwahatians, along with rest of the State and Bangladesh, on March 6.   In Guwahati, Bishnupriya Manipuri Bhasha Shwahid Divas Udjapan Committee, Sudarshanpur, Maligaon and Nikhil Bishnupriya Manupuri Yuva Parishad observed the day with various programmes. However, the Udjapan committee of Sudarhsanpur is going to hold an extended programme in memory of the martyr at Sudarshanpur, Maligaon on March 19, 2017. Sudesh Sinha was killed in police firing during a rail roko agitation by the Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Students' Union (NBMSU) at Kalkalighat in Karimganj district on March 16, 1996 since when March 16 is observed as Shwahid Divas by the members of the community every year.  The programme on March 19 will be graced as the chief guest by MLA Brindabon Goswami; as special guests by MLA Ramendra rayan Kalita; former SCERT, Assam Director Kumkum Singha; Bishnupriya Manipuri Writers' Forum president Dils Lakshmindra Sinha; H Group of Institute, Guwahati Maging Director Divas Phukan and Director Dorin Hazarika; Col (retd) Bijay Sinha and others.
