Math Olympiad on September 3

 GUWAHATI, Aug 7: In continuation of mathematical talent search programmes in the State, the Assam Academy of Mathematics (AAM) will organize Mathematics Olympiad (MO) on September 3, 2017 from 11 am to 2 pm. The competition will be conducted for three categories of students of classes V-VI, VII-VIII and IX-X-XI respectively in 44 centres scattered in various districts of the State. Prescribed application forms to be available with all centre coorditors and in the AAM website before August 10 will be received by the respective centre coorditors along with fees of Rs100 each after being duly filled up by candidates and forwarded by appropriate authorities. The last date of submission of forms is August 26. A few toppers in each category will be awarded sponsored medals, cash prizes, apart from set of books and certificates. Subject to attaining a minimum cut-off mark, candidates in all categories will be awarded certificates of merits and appreciation. 

MO questions are usually of non-routine type and these are designed to test the clarity and ingenuity on the part of a candidates’ thinking process. Copies of AAM publications containing hints and solutions of past question papers would be made available with centre coorditors for sale if sought by the candidates, stated Dr. Prabin Das, chairman, AAM Talent Search Committee in a press release.
