Meet for protection of Zoo

GUWAHATI, July 5: The committee of conveners constituted for the immediate protection of the Assam State Zoo in the city has called a convention to be held in the city on July 6. The convention will be held at Zoo Sishu vidyapeeth from 10 am. The committee is soliciting the presence of all the citizens concerned for the purpose. The committee of conveners has cited umpteen reasons for the dismal condition of the Assam State Zoo such as absence of proper cages and medical facilities, inferior quality food for the animals ,large-scale corruption by the zoo authorities, to me a few. Convener of the committee, Rajkumar Baishya, said: “Animals kept in the zoo are denied proper medical treatment which results in increase in the number of deaths.”
