Meet on ethnic literature

GUWAHATI, Jan 4: Ethnic writers of Assam had a platform for exchange of ideas today at the 30th Guwahati Book Fair currently underway at AEI Field at Chandmari in the city. Iugurated by film director Manju Borah, the congregation was attended by writers from Assamese, Bodo, Karbi, Mising, Rabha etc., literatures. It was also attended by Gobinda Tied and ni Gopal Mahta. Speaking on the occasion, Mahanta said: “Assam is not for Assamese-speaking people only. It’s for people speaking diverse languages. It is such a state in which people speaking diverse languages are kept together by a single unity string.” Manju Borah said: “Literature should also be written in minor languages of the State like Bodo, Mising, Rabha, Karbi etc. More and more books are written in Assamese, Hindi and English. People speaking minor languages should learn their mother tongues and do literary works in them.”
