GUWAHATI, Aug 26: The BJP’s State Minority Morcha has appealed to Dispur to take all measures for providing land pattas to minorities who have been rendered landless by erosion in the State.
The State executive committee of the Morcha was held in Guwahati on Saturday. The meeting felt that following the issuance of eviction notices in many minority-domited areas in the State, such landless people would be homeless yet again.
The Morcha also demanded Dispur to free Waqf Board property from encroachers. The meeting made it known that Wakf Board has 15805 bigha landed property worth Rs 50,000 crore. “However, this property has been under illegal encroachment at various places in the State. The property should be recovered from the encroachers,” the meeting said.
The meeting welcomed the Supreme Verdict on Triple Talaq.
It also welcomed the party’s decision to go it alone in the forthcoming panchayat poll in the State, besides welcoming Prime Minister rendra Modi for his government’s decision on GST, announcing Rs 250 crore as flood aid and Rs 100 crore for the study on the Brahmaputra.
The meeting was presided over by Morcha president Muktar Hussain Khan. Minister Parimal Shuklabaidya, MLA rayan Deka, State BJP general secretary Dilip Saikia, Morcha general secretary Matiur Rahman, presidents of 29 party districts in the State and others were present at the meeting.
