Mobile phone thieves' gang in cop's net

Guwahati, Nov 24: A gang, which used to steal high-end mobile phones from different places of the State, was busted last night. All the five gang members have been arrested. They have been identified as Mainul Haque, Jehirul Islam, Abdul Ali, Ataur Ali and yan Khan. Police have recovered 50 mobile handsets from their possession. All the five arrested gang members hail from Tarabari in Barpeta district. Hatigaon police have registered a case against them in this connection. Police sources said a mobile handset belonging to one Jyoti Boro of Hatigaon area of the city was stolen by the five accused on November 9. Based on Boro’s complaint, police started investigation into the case and maged to b the five gang members from Barpeta last night. Police sources further added that they were involved in number of mobile theft cases in the city.
