Mohotsav with Bhogali flavour

GUWAHATI, Jan 9: Bhogali Mohotsav with true Bhogali flavour has been underway at Bipan Kshetra at Panjabari in Guwahati since January 7. The Mohotsav is going to conclude on January 13.

As many as 60 women from Rajbonghsi Gaon in Dhubri district are here to make all edibles instantly on the spot so as to serve and sell them hot among visitors and buyers. The Mohotsav is glutted with all local Bihu delicacies – Malbhuk Chirra (beaten rice) from mti, Boja Bora (fried cake) from Dergaon, Joha Chirra (beaten rice) from Kalaigaon, Hurum (a kind of puffed rice) from Khowang, Komol Chawl (soft rice) from Tengakhat, a kind of sea fish from Norway, local fish like Chital, Rohu, Bakua (Catla catla), baby octopus, shark, to etc. In sync with the Assamese tradition, a mejhi stands erect at the site. On January 20, an adda (rendezvous) is going to be held at the Mohatsav site so as to revive the adda culture that gave rise to creative literature, political formations and many a think tank in Assam.
