Molestation slur on LP school HM

DIMORIA, Sept 22: A case has been registered at Sopur police station against the Baruahbari Domora LP School headmaster Jayanta Kumar Deka (50) on the charge of sexually abusing a 13-year-old girl reading class V in his school. The LP school is located at Ural and the headmaster is from Hiyalkhaiti near Sopur.

The incident came close on the heels of the alleged molestation of a class IX girl by two siblings near Sopur recently when she was on her way to tuition at Byrnihat.

According to sources, the incident came to light when the girl refused to go to school for the past few days. When she was asked the reason for not going to school, she disclosed the sexual abuse by the headmaster. The guardians of the girl moved the Sopur police station that registered a case (282/15) against the teacher who has since been absconding.

Meanwhile, the Dimoria branch president and secretary of the Assam Tea Tribes Students’ Association today submitted a memorandum to the Sopur Revenue Circle Officer and demanded him of arresting the teacher within 24 hours, failing which, they would resort to agitation.
