Monitoring panels formed

GUWAHATI, Sept 26: Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner M Angamuthu has formed as many as five teams, one for each circle – Azara, Dispur, Guwahati, Sopur and Chandrapur – and each being led by an ADC. Each of the five teams comprises officials from Food Safety Department, Police, Food and Civil Supplies, Weights and Measures, etc. Additives used in sweets during the puja etc., will come under monitoring of food safety officials. The department said that when soaked gram is kept for consumption for more than six hours the stuff gets fungal contamition. “Washing food materials in clean water is a must,” the department said, and added: “Fruits should also be washed before processing.”
