Morphine seized from Rajdhani Express, one arrested

GUWAHATI, July 31: It’s the same old story – GRP personnel seized two kg of morphine from Down Rajdhani Express at Guwahati Railway Station on Monday.
The consignment was recovered from seat No. 21 in coach No. A5. One Gajendra Singh, hailing from UP, was arrested in that connection. The consignment was bound for Kanpur from Dimapur. Singh admitted before the police that he had procured the consignment at Rs 16 lakh from Dimapur.
On Sunday, the GRP personnel seized 1.2 litre atar from Down Brahmaputra Mail. One Moniruddin Borbhuyan of Hojai was held in that connection. He was bound for Delhi with the consignment. The GRP later handed over the case to the State Forest Department.
