MP Gogoi dotes one month's salary to flood-hit

GUWAHATI, July 29: Member of Parliament from Kaliabor Gaurav Gogoi  today took stock of the flood situation in his Kaliabor constituency. He visited flood-affected areas of Bortika and Mohora and also inspected the flood relief camps in  Haathikhuli LP School, Rangajan LPS, Kaziranga High School etc.

The MP said it is pertinent to note that people were complaining of not having enough relief materials despite repeated assurances by the State Government. People complained about the lack of soap, baby food and cattle feed to the MP. The MP, in his persol capacity, distributed ORS packet, soap and biscuits. He also declared dotion of his one month’s salary (Rs 1 lakh) to the flood-affected people. The MP demanded that the Central Government should pay SDRF dues to the state government. He also complained that the Central Government is more concerned about cleaning the Ganga than helping the flood and erosion-affected people of Assam. He wished that the visit of the Home Minister to Assam will bring special aid package as given to the people of Tamil du and J & K, a press release said.
