Mungi Devi Goenka awards announced

GUWAHATI, Dec 2: The Jeewan Ram Mungi Devi Goenka Public Cheritable Trust has med actor-director Abdul Mazid, writer Nirupama Borgohain, musician Ramen Choudhury, actress Runu Devi Thakur and cine jourlist Arun Lochan Das as the recipients of its lifetime achievement awards, 2016. For the first time, literature has been included as a discipline in the conferment of the award this year.
This year the 10th Jeewan Ram Mungi Devi Goenka lecture will be delivered on December 4 at Pragjyoti ITA Cultural Complex in the city from 5 pm by Mumbai-based film critic Sudhir ndgaonkar on ‘Why Indian Cinema is Formula Ridden,’ said jury members and maging trustee Shankar Lall Goenka at a press meet in the city today. Goenka said that for the first time a tiol award-winning Bodo film ‘Dau Huduni Methai’ directed by Manju Bora and produced by him would be screened at the cultural programme on the conferment of the awards.
